Fairytale Elafonisi is a family-run stone retreat tucked into a quiet mountain village in western Crete. Restored from a traditional Cretan house, the property blends authentic architecture with refined, contemporary interiors and a calm, unspoiled landscape - a peaceful base just a short drive from the turquoise waters of Elafonissi Beach.
A quiet Cretan hideaway
Natural stone walls, warm wood ceilings and soft Mediterranean light shape every corner of the property. Private terraces look out over the hills, an infinity pool catches the last colours of the day and lemon trees scent the courtyard. Guests are welcomed personally by the hosts, with homemade treats and thoughtful guidance for beaches, hiking routes and traditional tavernas off the tourist trail.
Homemade Cretan breakfast
Mornings begin with a generous spread of homemade pastries, seasonal fruit, local honey, fresh tomatoes and warm dishes prepared just for you - often served outdoors in the shaded courtyard. It is breakfast as a slow ritual, rooted in the family's farm and the village around it.
